Putting aside the touchingly cliched ending, this is one brilliantly executed video. Does the fountain of ageing really exist? Does he throw her in once she’s unconscious? Is that attempted murder? …I said putting to one side. Youth runs riot in a “this is how it’s done” tutorial on the Summer love scenario. The colours, environment, cast, everything points to the positivity of youth. A positivity easy to forget for (insert any one of countless reasons here), yet so easily remembered once reminded. With youth and positivity personified through a flower, all the other pieces fall into place, the girl, the bubblegum, the I-love-her-more-than-life-I’d-follow-her-anywhere-infatuation.

With Laurie Lynch ¬†making his directorial debut for Rokkit, little can be found online of the young director in what seems like classic, “you didn’t exist before us” tactics. Much like I’d forgotten about¬†that GCSE Maths result, a clean slate can work in Laurie’s favour. If all future work is to this level and previous work wasn’t, why not. Especially with cinematic relapses like that. And casting. And locations. And…
