Everyone wants to make the team. Whether you win or lose, you do it together and it is this sense of solidarity that creates strength. We’ve had the London riots, the Olympics and Danny Dyer taking to the set of Eastenders. Ups and downs but throughout the team prosper which in this case is a teenage society, not a new concept but they do have the best backstories: World War 3 broke out and all adults are otherwise occupied, a disease manifested that only affects adults or even a gang took running away from home to a new level, level fortress. With the siren Lorde as your leader serenading you at every bruise and bump, who needs grown ups. First though you have to earn your way into this world, this sanctuary, this team.
This team depicted so well by Young Replicant is signature stuff; moody lighting and fantasy intertwined. Dominant themes. As Lorde is still finding herself visually it is to the director’s credit that this issue is taken seriously and head on. Lorde is looking older, cooler, edgier, perhaps more herself? It’s of no surprise seeing as Young Replicant is a favourite of the cool and established, the Bonobo’s, the XX’s and even Purity Ring. Who doesn’t love Purity Ring, especially this classic unofficial video. Check out Young Replicant’s blog for some equally prime photography.
